Kay Bojesen exhibition at Sophienholm

Kay Bojesen exhibition at Sophienholm
Juli 8, 2014 Sus Bojesen

From 28 June until 21 September 2014, Sophienholm in Lyngby presents Denmark’s largest-ever exhibit of the playful Danish designer’s most iconic creations. This is a chance to explore a charming and original universe of functional design in silver and wood, together with his beloved animals, toys and other wooden figurines, deeply rooted in the simple Danish design tradition.

Kay Bojesen began his design career far from the playful world of toys. He trained at Georg Jensen and quickly made a name for himself as one of the most talented Danish silversmiths of his generation, even exhibiting at the World Fair in Paris in 1925. His Grand Prix Cutlery from 1938, which won the international design award in Milan in 1951, is still a modern design classic today.

The Kay Bojesen exhibitat Sophienholmcomprises a wide array of objects from Kay Bojesen’s multifarious design universe. To coincide with the exhibit, Gyldendal is publishing a biography of Kay Bojesen, written by journalist and author Lars Hedebo Olsen.
